Joel Cooper | Kitt Garner | Jonathan Calvert | Kieran Joy | Paul Hughes
Kieran began playing the trombone at the age of eight, and was soon working his way into a variety of local ensembles and by the age of fourteen he was playing principle trombone with the county big band and the county wind orchestra. After spending some time with these groups, Kieran successfully gained a place at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he studied with teachers such as Andy Waddicor (freelance bass trombone in London) and Dave Whitson (early music, and chamber music specialist). By the end of his time at Junior Guildhall, he had played principle trombone with all of the major ensembles.

Kieran then went on to be offered places at four leading music colleges, eventually deciding to take up his place at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he is now in his second year studying with Chris Houlding (principle trombone of Opera North) and Rob Holliday (second trombone with the BBC Philharmonic).

At the RNCM, Kieran has worked with many of the colleges major ensembles and has also joined two successful external groups - the Dave Pearce Orchestra, and Phoenix Brass quintet. Both of these groups have put on many recitals in venues around Manchester and the north of England. Kieran also freelances across the north of England and Wales, having worked with many amateur groups and some of the countries leading brass bands. He still regularly visit's the local groups that he started off at, sometimes playing within the group, sometimes appearing as soloist or even occasionally picking up the baton to conduct!
