Originally from a brass band background, Kitt began playing the Cornet around twelve years ago and was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain for three years.

In 2001 Kitt won a place to study at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, where he studied trumpet with John Dickinson, formally principal trumpet of the Halle Orchestra. Whilst at Chethams, Kitt was a member of the symphony orchestra and various other chamber groups and also featured as a concerto soloist with the Chethams Senior Wind Orchestra performing Arutjunjan's Trumpet Concerto on a number of occasions, one in 2003, with the arranger of the work, Dennis Wick conducting.

In summer 2002, Kitt took part in the ITG Under 18 International solo trumpet competition and was delighted to be awarded second place which was a tremendous honour. After earning full scholarships at four major music colleges (RNCM, RAM, RCM & GSMD), Kitt decided to accept his place at the RNCM. Kitt is now in his third year at the college and studies with Murray Grieg, principal trumpet of Opera North. Kitt also plays in many other chamber groups at the RNCM, and he regularly performs with the college Symphony Orchestra, most recently as principal trumpet. At the end of his first year at the RNCM Kitt was also chosen to represent the college at Klassikfestival Ruhr European Trumpet Competition held in Marl, Germany in summer 2004.

During 2005, Kitt performed in masterclasses with Hakan Hardenberger, Michael Brydenfelt and Canadian Brass. As well as being a founding member of very successful Phoenix Brass Quintet, Kitt is also a member of another chamber ensemble, RNCM Brass Quintet which was formed at the request of RNCM principal, Professor Edward Gregson to perform at the very prestigious Association of European Conservatoire Conference held in Birmingham and in March 2006, The RNCM Brass Quintet were invited to perform a lunchtime concert of contemporary brass quintet music at St. Martin in Fields in London.

In August 2006, Kitt is taking part in the Stresa Conducting Academy project where he will be playing principal trumpet in an orchestra made up of students from the both RNCM, The Joven Orquestra de Espana and Orchestra Giovanile Italiana and appearing as a soloist the Shoshtakovitch Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings.
